Any time you see a T. Muraoka volume that retails at under $30, it’s worth paying attention to.
Peeters has released the short but sure-to-be excellent volume, A Biblical Aramaic Reader: With an Outline Grammar.
Here’s the publisher’s description:
This reader is for anyone very eager to read the story of Daniel in the lions’ den and many other fascinating stories in their original language, Aramaic.
A brief outline of Biblical Aramaic grammar is followed by a verse-by-verse grammatical commentary on the Aramaic chapters in the books of Daniel and Ezra. Both the outline grammar and the grammatical commentary presuppose basic knowledge of the grammar and vocabulary of Biblical Hebrew. Constant references are made in the commentary to relevant sections of the outline grammar. The commentary is written in a user-friendly, not overtly technical language. Some grammatical exercises with keys and paradigms conclude the Reader. Also suitable for self-study.

iA Writer is a popular plain-text, Markdown writing app. Perhaps its most salient feature is its simplicity, which it achieves without sacrificing quality. I may be making you fine readers read too many writing and productivity app reviews, so for this one, I’ll just send you the relevant links so you can check out more.

I ran a 5K today. Not my best time ever, but an improvement on recent times. It’s been a very long time since I’ve raced–I’d forgotten the energy boosts that come from family and friends (and complete strangers) cheering us runners on!

Does the Church need another commentary on Romans?
Time will tell. But Richard N. Longenecker’s Romans volume in the NIGTC series is about to be released.
Today Eerdmans announced a sneak peek PDF with Table of Contents and Preface, which you can find here.
I like Longenecker’s turn of phrase when he says Romans “has been, in very large measure, the heartland of Christian thought, life, and proclamation.”
He also notes:
Indeed, 2 Pet 3:16 bears eloquent testimony to the church’s mingled attitudes of (1) deep respect for Paul’s letters generally (and Romans in particular), yet also (2) real difficulties in trying to understand them, and (3) a realization of possibilities for serious misinterpretation, when it says of Paul’s letters that they “contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.” In fact, despite all its appearances of being straightforward and clear, no other NT writing presents greater difficulties with respect to “style,” “stance,” and “audience” (to recall Erasmus’s three categories of difficulty) than does Romans.

Ulysses–writers’ darling when it comes to apps–has just received a significant update to version 2.1.
Some highlights (click the hyperlinked text for more on each):
2.1 does not add to iPad the Mac functionality where you can navigate your sheet by headings, so users will have to hope for that in future updates.
All the same, this is a worthy update. If you can live with .docx export replacing .rtf export, Ulysses users will want to update right away.
